Flores, Dora
From:
Erika Zepeda Realtor <
Sent:
Tuesday, September 16, 2025 4:33 PM
To:
eComment
Subject:
Soccer Field Access Issues -LA ACADEMIA
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Dear Santa Ana Council Members,
My son Danilo Zepeda has been playing with La Academia / Albion Santa Ana for the past two years, and it has
truly been a great experience. Coach Oscar Reyes and his team have been working diligently to improve the
club every day. Their commitment goes beyond just developing players on the field they are creating clear
pathways for young athletes to potentially play professionally, while also emphasizing the importance of
education and pursuing college opportunities.
It is an honor to have a soccer club representing Santa Ana with such pride and purpose. Attending tournaments
and being recognized as the Santa Ana Albion team is a proud moment for us as parents and for the community.
We're grateful to be part of this journey.
Having soccer fields closer to home, within our own community, would be a tremendous benefit not only for
us as parents, but especially for single moms and, most importantly, for the children who play.
Currently, we have to drive all the way to Long Beach for home games, which can be incredibly challenging
when we don't have someone available to take the kids. For my 17-year-old son, having a local field would
mean he could ride his bike, take the bus, get an Uber (which is much more affordable than a trip to Long
Beach), or even walk to the park.
Bringing these fields to Santa Ana would make soccer more accessible and equitable for all families in our
community.
Taking away the fields would have a significant impact on these children and their families. Many of them
along with their parents make real sacrifices just to show up for practice and games. They dedicate their
time, energy, and limited resources in order to grow as athletes and individuals.
These fields are more than just a place to play they are a space where discipline, teamwork, and dreams take
root. Losing access to them would mean taking away an opportunity for kids to stay active, stay out of trouble,
and work toward a brighter future.
Respectfully,
Erika Zepeda
Realtor
Excellence RE Real Estate
DRE# 02079001
