Flores, Dora
From: Tania Vasquez <
Sent: Tuesday, September 16, 2025 2:11 PM
To: eComment
Subject: SOCCER FIELD ACCESS ISSUES - LA ACADEMIA
Attention: This email originated from outside of City of Santa Ana. Use caution when opening attachments or links.
Good afternoon Mayor Amezcua and Council Members.
I am writing in support of La Academia. My husband and I are Santa Ana residents. We met going to school in
Santa Ana, we got married at the Old Courthouse in Santa Ana and are now raising our daughter here in Santa
Ana in the same house I grew up in.
We joined La Academia in the Spring 2024 and have had a great experience with the organization. My daughter
is not only improving in her soccer ability, she has had amazing experiences in the form of excursions to
stadiums, like Sofi and the Rose Bowl, as well as soccer clinics hosted by La Academia. She was in awe to be
playing on the field where professionals play and it fueled her desire to play soccer. We spoke with Jorge Reyes
Sr during one of our practices and he spoke about their plans to make La Academia a place for all kids from
Santa Ana to be able to play. For the new partnership with Albion to provide a path to kids from Santa Ana to
play higher level soccer that could give them the opportunity, a chance, to get a college scholarship and help
them get a solid start in life. A club team in Santa Ana that is affordable for Santa Ana athletes. We had no
plans to have our daughter join a club team but after speaking with him and seeing his excitement, we changed
our minds. We have since then joined the club team, Albion SC Santa Ana. The friendships and bonds our
daughter has formed with the girls on her team is incredible. They are family! We are proud to wear the name of
Santa Ana on our uniform. We are thankful to La Academia for all the support and care they have provided!
Sincerely,
Tania Chavez
