This would give the Commissioners opportunity to give input <br />directly to Planning. <br />• Stated that at the Regular Meeting of May 4 Nexus will be presenting <br />#heir proposed project at Hutton Center. <br />11. COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Leon <br />• Expressed concern for the number of Starbucks in the City. <br />• Expressed concern far impacts on "ma and pa" coffee shops being run <br />out of business by Starbucks. <br />Vice-Chair arson Macres <br />• Thanked Agency staff and City Attorney Fletcher for their <br />presentations. <br />• Thanked Recording Secretary Abelar for her work and wished her a <br />special day on Wednesday, Administrative Professionals Day. <br />Commissioner Bustamante <br />___ _ • Thanked Agency staff and City Attorney Fletcher for their informative <br />( ' presentations. <br />• Noted that the annual Floral Park Home and Garden Tour would be <br />held that weekend. Encouraged everyone to attend. <br />Commissioner Betancourt <br />• Reiterated Commissioner Leon's concern for the number of Starbucks <br />in the City and the impacts they have on other businesses. Asked if <br />the Commission has any power to limit the number of Starbucks in the <br />City. <br />• Encouraged staff and the Commission to take a more proactive <br />approach and develop a retail strategy for other types of coffee shops. <br />Stores need to have a unique flavor rather than just be established <br />businesses with "big names".
