PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Carl Stewart of Michigan, Bob Stewart's father and consultant, offered a <br />number of suggestions to the Commission on how to make their BID <br />presentation to the City Council and "questions" to answer. <br />8. STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS <br />Pat Whitaker <br />• Noted that the Santiago Villas Grand Opening Celebration that was <br />held on October 28, 2004 was well attended. The project, funded with <br />Set-Aside and HOME funds, is a conversion of the Howard Johnson's <br />Motel on 17th Street. <br />• Stated that staff continues to work with developers and the Sandpointe <br />Neighborhood Association on the Nexus and Mola proposals at <br />MacArthur and Main. <br />• Noted that the City has received some proposals for the YMCA site <br />and will be working on analyses. <br />~_ <br />9. COMMISSION MEMBER COMMENTS <br />Commissioner Bustamante <br />• Stated that he has really enjoyed serving on the Community <br />Redevelopment and Housing Commission. <br />• Noted that the Agency has a great staff, and he looks forward to <br />working with them in the future while he is on the City Council. <br />• Thanked staff and his fellow Commissioners for the opportunities that <br />had been afforded to him and will be afforded #o him as a <br />Councilmember. <br />Commissioner Turner <br />• Thanked Commissioner Bustamante for his many years of service on <br />the Commission. He had appreciated working with him and wished <br />him the best on the City Council. <br />• Noted that he is a resident of the Sandpointe Neighborhood and had <br />been asked to speak on their association's behalf regarding the Nexus <br />and Mola proposals at Main and MacArthur. Added that the <br />neighborhood association will agree to support the proposals with <br />some concessions in off-site improvements for the neighborhood. <br />Currently, there are approximately $5 million of off-site improvements <br />CRHC MINUTES 6 NOVEMBER 16, 2004 <br />
