1. REGULAR MEETING OF AUGUST 18, 2009 <br />MOTION: Approve Minutes. <br />2. EXCUSED ABSENCES <br />MOTION: Excuse Commission Member Jennifer Villasenor from the October <br />6, 2049, Community Redevelopment & Housing Commission meeting. <br />*~'* END OF CONSENT CALENDAR *** <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br />3. HOUSING ELEMENT UPDATE -Planning and Building Agency <br />Melanie McCann, Associate Planner of the Planning and Building Agency, provided a <br />PowerPoint presentation on the Housing Element and updated the Commissioners. <br />A few highlights of this presentation are as follows, <br />• The Housing Element is a mandated chapter of the City`s General Plan, which <br />addresses current and future housing needs. <br />• Adequate sites, zoning, and density must be identified for the Regional Housing <br />Needs Assessment for 2006-2014. <br />• The process includes: Outreach; Preparation of the Housing Element; HCDIState <br />Review; Environmental Review; and Public Hearings. <br />• Goals include: (1) Livable Neighborhoods; (2) Housing Supply and Diversity; {3) <br />Housing Assistance; and {4) Special Needs. <br />• City Council Public Hearing is scheduled for October 19, 2009 <br />COMMENTS <br />4. PUBLIC COMMENTS -None <br />5. STAFF MEMBER COMMENTS <br />Cindy Nelson <br />• Announced that the next meeting will be on October 20. The agenda will include <br />the Commission appointment to the Historic Resources Commission as well as a <br />couple of other items. <br />• Men#ioned that the first Station District community meeting was held last night <br />with the Logan Neighborhood. There were approximately 40 people in <br />attendance.
