that Association' s representative will not be required to carry out <br /> any peace officers' duties during such time that Association' s <br /> representative is on such full-time release from duty. The <br /> Association' s representative will be required to comply with the <br /> Rules and Regulations of the Santa Ana Police Department as they <br /> apply to off-duty employees, except such representative will not be <br /> required to report for duty for any purpose. <br /> Section 6 . Upon return to duty from such full-time release, <br /> the Association' s representative shall be restored to the same <br /> position without loss of any benefits as he or she would have <br /> occupied or accrued if there had been no disruption in duty status . <br /> ARTICLE XV - SAFETY <br /> The City and the Employees of the City agree to comply with all <br /> applicable federal, state and local laws, and City of Santa Ana <br /> regulations, which relate to health and safety. <br /> ARTICLE XVI - RESIDENCY <br /> Section 1 . Employees covered by this Agreement are permitted <br /> to reside outside the limits of Orange County, so long as such <br /> residency is not an unreasonable distance from, nor requires an <br /> unreasonable response time to, the particular employee' s place of <br /> employment . <br /> A. Any employee desiring to take advantage of the <br /> opportunity to reside outside of Orange County shall first request <br /> permission to do so from the Police Chief . Said request shall be <br /> granted by the Chief of Police if he determines the intended <br /> residence is not an unreasonable distance from and/or does not <br /> require an unreasonable response time to the employee' s place of <br /> employment . <br /> B. If the Chief of Police refuses said request, the <br /> employee shall have a right to appeal said determination to the <br /> City Manager. <br /> ARTICLE XVII - DISCIPLINE <br /> Section 1 . Any permanent employee covered by this Agreement <br /> may only be disciplined in accordance with the standards and <br /> procedures and subject to all rights of appeal set forth in Santa <br /> Ana Municipal Code Sections 9-9 , 9-10, 9-118 . 1, et seq. Any <br /> probationary employee covered by this Agreement may be disciplined <br /> in accordance with the standards and procedures set forth in Santa <br /> Ana Municipal Code Sections 9-90 , 9-91, 9-118, and subject to <br /> review in accordance with the grievance review procedure contained <br /> 34 <br />
