Section 3. Salaries. <br /> A. Effective February 1, 1989, the base salaries of employees <br /> covered by this Agreement shall be increased by ten (10) salary rate <br /> ranges (5.0%). <br /> B. Effective February 1, 1989, the base salary of each Police <br /> Sergeant as adjusted above shall be increased an additional four (4) <br /> salary rate ranges (2.0%) for a total of fourteen (14) rated ranges <br /> (7.0%) above their base monthly pay rate in effect on January 31, 1989. <br /> C. For each bargaining unit employee employed with the City as <br /> of January 31, 1989, the City will pay a one-time, lump sum salary <br /> payment in an amount equal to ten (10) salary rate ranges (5.0%), <br /> fourteen (14) rate ranges (7.0%) for Police Sergeants, of each employee's <br /> base semi-monthly pay rate in effect on January 31, 1989, times the <br /> number of pay periods in which the employee received pay for official <br /> time worked during each pay period between July 1, 1988 and January 31, <br /> 1989. <br /> Said one-time, lump-sum payment shall be computed on base <br /> salary only, including career development grades, and shall therefore, <br /> exclude all pay additives and other payroll costs such as assignment pay, <br /> bilingual pay, shift differential pay, overtime pay, deferred retirement <br /> payments, insurance cash-back payments, and City contributions toward <br /> various employee benefit insurance programs. Such payment is not an <br /> increase in base salary and no salary rate range applicable to any such <br /> employee shall be changed or deemed to have been changed by reason <br /> thereof. <br /> Nevertheless, for the purpose of reporting compensation to <br /> P.E.R.S. , said salary payment will be counted toward the employee's <br /> retirement. <br /> D. Effective July 1, 1989, the base salaries of bargaining <br /> unit employees as adjusted in Subsections "A" and "B" above, shall be <br /> increased seven (7) salary rate ranges (3.5%). <br /> E. Effective January 1, 1990, the base salaries of bargaining <br /> unit employees as adjusted in Subsection "D" above, shall be increased by <br /> seven (7) salary rate ranges (3.5%). <br /> F. The assignment of classes to salary rate ranges during the <br /> term of this Agreement resulting from said increases are listed in <br /> Exhibit B, which is attached and made a part hereof as though set forth <br /> herein. <br /> Section 4. Application of Basic Compensation Plan. The salary rate <br /> ranges and steps contained in Section 2 hereof are monthly salary rates. <br /> All officers and employees working in classifications of employment <br /> covered by this Agreement shall be compensated at a monthly rate, except <br /> that an employee hired for temporary work in a position which has an <br /> -3 - <br />
