B. The new salary rate must be within the appro- <br /> priate salary rate range. <br /> C. The new salary rate shall not be higher than <br /> the salary step to which the officer or employee would have <br /> been entitled had his or her service time in the higher <br /> classification been spent in the lower classification. <br /> D. If the salary rate recommended by the Chief <br /> of Police is lower than the maximum step permissible under <br /> subsection C above, such recommendation shall be considred a <br /> reduction in pay in addition to the demotion and shall be <br /> handled in accordance with the provisions for salary reduc- <br /> tions. (Section 8, above) . <br /> Section 11. Reallocation Of Salary Rate Ranges Any <br /> officer or employee who is employed in a classification <br /> which is reallocated to a different salary rate range from <br /> that previously assigned- 'shall be retained in the same <br /> salary step in the new salary rate range as he or she had <br /> previous held in the 'prior rate range and shall retain <br /> credit for length of service 'in such step towards advance- <br /> ment to the next higher step. <br /> ARTICLE V ASSIGNMENT AND OTHER SPECIAL PAY ADDITIVES <br /> Section 1. Assignment Pay Differential. The following <br /> employees will be paid an additional five percent (5%) (ten <br /> salary rate ranges) above -their then current base monthly <br /> salary, unless they are receiving additional pay as a result <br /> of any provision of the Police Career Development Program <br /> set forth in Article IV herein: <br /> Patrolmen who are continuously and regularly <br /> assigned to and actually performing duties as: Accident <br /> Investigators, Background Investigators, Hispanic Affairs <br /> Officers, Community Relations Officers, Field Training <br /> Officers, Training Officers (Personnel and Training Section) , <br /> Investigators, Research and Planning Officers, Traffic <br /> Safety Officers, or Motorcycle Officers on two-wheeled <br /> motorcycles; and Police Sergeants who are continuously <br /> assigned to and actually performing duty in the Investiga- <br /> tion Division. <br /> Section 2. Shift Differential',' Non-Sworn Personnel. <br /> An employee in the class of Emergency Services Dispatcher <br /> who is continuously and regularly assigned to a schedule of <br /> work which requires that he or she actually work a minimum <br /> of four and one-half (4 1/2) hours between the hours Of <br /> -6- <br />
