completed as rapidly as may be practicable and at such times as will cause the least <br />inconvenience to its customers. <br />Sec. 39-27. - Private fire protection service, <br />(a) The use of separate fire protection services shall be limited to servicing <br />structural and buildings fire sprinkler systems, fire hoses, on -site fire pumps, fire <br />department connection standpipes, and fire hydrants. No such service shall be used for <br />any purpose other than flushing, fire flow testing, and the extinguishment of fires. All <br />such services shall be equipped with an approved double check valve assembly in <br />accordance with section 39-29(i) at the expense of the owner. <br />(b) A private fire protection service required to be flow tested routinely shall <br />be equipped with an appropriately sized fire service meter approved by the Orange <br />County Fire Authority. <br />(c) For non-residential tenant improvement projects that require a permit, plan <br />check, or design review costing $50,000 or more, an approved double check valve <br />assembly shall be installed on the existing private fire service. <br />Sec. 39-28. - Fire flow tests. <br />Fire flow tests shall be performed by a certified fire protection professional. An <br />application shall be submitted and a permit issued to the individual requesting the test <br />prior to conducting the test. The flow test must be witnessed by a representative of the <br />agency. A fire flow application fee and a fire flow witness fee, as set by resolution of the <br />city council, shall be the responsibility of the applicant. <br />Sec. 39-29. - Protection of public water supply, <br />(a) State regulations adopted. The regulations of the State of California <br />related to Drinking Water Supplies, Title 17, as they are now in effect or as they may be <br />amended in the future, insofar as the same are applicable to the protection of the water <br />supply of this city, are hereby adopted, incorporated herein and made a part hereof. <br />(b) Purpose; applicability. <br />(1) The purpose of this section is: <br />(A) To protect the public water supply against actual or potential cross - <br />connection by isolating within the premises contamination that may occur because of <br />some undiscovered or unauthorized cross -connection on the premises; <br />Ordinance No. NS-2921 <br />Page 23 of 57 <br />
