The Department Head shall review the employee’s submitted request and within <br />sixty (60) days shall make one of the following determinations: <br />1. Will support the employee’s request. <br />a. If the Department Head supports the employee’s request for a <br />classification review, they shall forward the request to the Executive <br />Director of Human Resources along with justification for support of <br />the employee’s request. <br />b. The Department Head shall notify the employee that their request <br />has been submitted to the Executive Director of Human Resources. <br />2. Will not support the employee’s request. <br />a. If the Department Head does not support the employee’s request for <br />a classification review, they shall notify the employee of this <br />decision in writing and set forth the basis for the decision. <br />b. If the Department Head does not support the employee’s request, <br />but agrees that some of the duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee are those of a higher level City <br />classification, they can do the following: <br />i. Return the employee to performance of the duties and/or <br />responsibilities of their proper classification. <br />ii. Eliminate the higher duties and/or responsibilities being <br />performed by the employee, for which the City has agreed <br />are those for which it shall provide higher compensation. <br />B. Any employee request for classification review approved by the Department Head <br />shall be forwarded to the Executive Director of Human Resources. The Executive <br />Director of Human Resources shall confirm receipt of the request in writing to the <br />employee. Within sixty (60) days of receipt of the request, the Executive Director <br />of Human Resources shall notify the employee and Department Head of the <br />decision as to whether a study will be conducted. If the Executive Director of <br />Human Resources determines that a study is appropriate, the Executive Director of <br />Human Resources shall so notify the employee and the Department Head in writing <br />and shall provide the employee and Department Head with an approximate start <br />date for the study.
