A. An employee shall be granted up to three (3) working days per incident of paid <br />bereavement leave in case of death of a member of the employee's immediate <br />family. <br />B. "Immediate family" as used in this section is limited to: <br />1. Any member of the employee's household related by blood or marriage; <br />2. A parent, parent -in-law, stepparent, spouse, registered domestic partner, child, <br />stepchild, brother, stepbrother, sister, stepsister, grandparent, grandparent -in- <br />law, or grandchild of the employee, regardless of residence; <br />3. Subject to the discretion of the Executive Director of Human Resources, any <br />other relative of the employee by blood or by marriage where it can be <br />established by the employee that as a result of such relative's death, the <br />employee's presence is required to handle funeral arrangements and/or matters <br />of estate. <br />C. An employee may use up to two (2) additional work days of leave. An employee can <br />choose to use any accrued leave for these additional two (2) days. <br />10.3 Military Leave <br />A. Proof of Orders and Reinstatements <br />An employee shall be granted military leave if they furnish the Executive Director <br />of Human Resources satisfactory proof of their order to report for duty. Upon return <br />and upon showing of proof of actual service pursuant to such orders, they will be <br />reinstated as provided in Section 143 of the City's Civil Service Rules and <br />Regulations. <br />B. Temporary Leave <br />Members of the reserve forces of the United States or the National Guard granted <br />temporary leave when ordered to duty will be granted leave with pay not to exceed <br />thirty (30) working days in each calendar year after one (1) year of service with the <br />City upon presenting satisfactory proof of orders to and from such temporary active <br />duties. <br />10.4 Examination Leave <br />Employees participating in examinations conducted during their normal working hours for <br />positions in the competitive service of the City will be granted leave with pay for the time <br />actually required without loss of any accrued paid leave. <br />2025 MOU City of Santa Ana & SEIU Full -Time Employees Unit Page 53 <br />
