City Clerk's Office www.santa-ana.org/city-clerks-office Item # 27 o`'r City of Santa Ana 20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 Staff Report January 20, 2026 TOPIC: SCAG Business Meeting Alternate Representative AGENDA TITLE Nominate and Appoint an Alternate Representative to the Southern California Association of Governments General Assembly Business Meeting RECOMMENDED ACTION Nominate and appoint an alternate for purposes of the Southern California Association of Governments General Assembly Business Meeting GOVERNMENT CODE 484308 APPLIES: No DISCUSSION The City Council represents the City's interests in regional issues by serving on a number of regional boards/agencies which make public policy decisions in the areas of transportation, water resources, fire resources, and government facilities. The Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is an association representing six counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura) that works to develop regional plans for transportation, growth management, housing development, air quality, and other issues of regional significance. Mayor Amezcua was appointed as the City's representative to the SCAG Regional Council for District 16 on April 4, 2023 and re -appointed on December 17, 2024. SCAG holds an annual Regional Conference and General Assembly Business Meeting. The 60t" Annual Conference and General Assembly Business Meeting will be held from Thursday, May 7, 2026 through Friday, May 8, 2026 in Palm Desert, CA. As the City's appointed SCAG representative, Mayor Amezcua serves as the City's Delegate Representative for the General Assembly. SCAG has requested that the City designate an Alternate Representative for purposes of the General Assembly, in the event that the Delegate Representative (Mayor Amezcua) is unable to attend.
