St. Gertrude Place <br /> Santa Ana, CA 92707 <br /> artistacoalition@gmail.com <br /> 714- 907 5468 <br /> 2/28/2025 <br /> Work Plan for Emerging Artist Apprenticeship <br /> As part of the Friendship Park - Myrtle St "La Virgencita" Community Mural Restoration, <br /> the Santa Ana Community Artist(a) Coalition (SACAC) is committed to fostering the next <br /> generation of artists by providing hands-on learning experiences in mural conservation, <br /> community engagement, and cultural preservation. <br /> We will recruit youth apprentices from Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA) and other <br /> community organizations under the mentorship of the SACAC. This mentorship initiative aligns <br /> with our mission to connect artists with their communities through transformative public art <br /> projects. <br /> Apprenticeship Structure &Training Plan <br /> • Recruitment & Selection: <br /> • Outreach to art students, community and OCSA youth artists. <br /> o Selection based on interest in mural conservation, public art, and community <br /> storytelling. <br /> • Hands-On Training & Conservation Work: <br /> o Apprentices will participate in historical research, community storytelling, and <br /> mural documentation. <br /> o Training in surface cleaning, delamination techniques, color matching, and <br /> protective coatings. <br /> o Apprentices will assist in repainting, using archival references and original <br /> techniques to maintain the mural's authenticity. <br />
