Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Adopt a resolution approving the application for grant funds for the Sustainable Communities <br />Planning Grant and Incentives Program under the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and <br />Supply, Flood Control, River and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006. <br />2. Adopt a resolution approving the application for grant funds for the Sustainable Communities <br />Regional Planning Grants Program from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development, and authorizing the City Manager to execute a Memorandum of Understanding <br />with the Southern California Association of Governments indicating its commitment for in-kind <br />assistance. <br />DISCUSSION <br />It is requested that the City Council authorize the preparation and submission of two grant <br />applications in furtherance of the City's overarching transportation and mobility goals. <br />The grant opportunities relate to one State and one Federal program as follows: <br />Proposition 84 Sustainable Communities Planning Grant and Incentives Program. This grant <br />opportunity arises from the Safe Drinking Water, Water Quality and Supply, Flood Control, River <br />and Coastal Protection Bond Act of 2006. This program aims to support the development and <br />implementation of effective and/or innovative local plans that support the state's AB 32 GHG <br />emission reduction targets and implement SB 375, while creating sustainable communities. <br />2. Sustainable Communities Regional Planninq Grants (from the U.S. Consolidated Appropriations <br />Act of 2010. This program is administered by the Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development (HUD). It aims to improve regional planning efforts that integrate housing and <br />transportation decisions at the state, regional and local level. <br />55B-1
