Wednesday, November 4, 2020 <br />2:19 AM <br />SAPD Sergeant A. Silva #2668 called me at home and reported a custodial death at the Santa Ana <br />Detention Facility.Sergeant Silva requested the SAPD Homicide Section respond to investigate.I notified <br />my chain of command and called my counterpart at the Orange County District Attorney¶s Office Special <br />Assignments Unit, Supervising Investigator Stan Berry.I then initiated a call-out of Homicide Section <br />Detectives. <br />4:00 AM <br />I arrived at the Santa Ana Police Department and met with OCDA Special Investigations Investigator B. <br />Tanner and his team of investigators.We congregated in the Homicide Section with my detectives pending <br />the arrival of Orange County Sheriff¶s Department personnel.I assigned Detective F. Gomez #2706 as the <br />case agent for this investigation. <br />5:12 AM <br />I held a preliminary briefing in the Homicide Section with the limited information gleaned during my <br />preliminary telephone call with Sergeant Silva.Investigator Tanner and I made assignments, pairing DA <br />investigators and homicide detectives. <br />5:34 AM <br />The assembled investigative team walked over to the Santa Ana Detention Facility ±D Mod, and signed in <br />with the scene scribe, Officer K. Gray #3412. <br />5:47 AM <br />The scene supervisor, Sergeant J.
