A representative from Traditional Mortuary placed the decedent inside of a zippered <br />body bag. I then placed a second identification tag on the outside zipper and placed a coroner seal at 0428 hours. I <br />then directed the Traditional Mortuary representative to transport the decedent to lhc Coroner's Office. <br />Criminalist Maggay removed collected the decedent's clothing and booked it into Sheriffs evidence. <br />On 01/21/2020 at 0837 hours, Coroner Investigator S. Rodriquez received a call from DA Investigator Craig <br />Brower. He confirmed he had notified the decedent's parents of the death but did not have any further information <br />regarding the decedent. He stated they were provided a card with the coroner's phone number and case number. He <br />said we arc good to conduct a standard interview with the parents but they arc Spanish-speaking only. <br />On 01/21/2020 at 1831 hours, Coroner Walch Commander E. Arellano called the decedent's father, <br />who confirmed the decedent was never married and did not have any children. Arellano explained coroner <br />procedures and he stated he understood. Arellano immediately called OCDA Inv. S. Berry and notified him that the <br />next of kin arc in fact the parents. <br />Based on the totality of the investigation, this case was mannered Homicide.
