On 12-01-24, at approximately 1732 hours, I was working uniformed patrol in a <br />marked black and white police vehicle, in the City of Santa Ana. During this time, I <br />heard a broadcast via radio from officers stating they were involved in a shooting with <br />a subject armed with a firearm. I responded from Harbor Blvd and McFadden Ave. to <br />assist officers at 2nd Street and Broadway. Upon arrival, there were multiple officers <br />on scene. <br />At this time, I was tasked with driving a patrol unit as shield for officers to approach <br />the suspect that was down. The suspect t this time had a firearm near him that <br />appeared to be a shotgun. The color on the shotgun appeared to be black and brown <br />in color. <br />When advised, I drove the vehicle as close as possible towards the suspect as a <br />shield as officers approached and detained the suspect. <br />I then assisted by checking nearby businesses for any victims or witnesses. None <br />were located at this time. <br />I also assisted officers by placing FI cards next to shell casings that were on the <br />ground near several feet from the suspect on Broadway. <br />My BWC was activated and later uploaded into Axon.com. <br />No further action was taken. <br />Author: Ruelas, Jose 3795 BWC Activated <br />Santa Ana PD 2024-26142 Report by Ruelas, Jose 3795 2 of 2
