1100 W. Myrtle Street. Officers located several residences equipped with exterior home security <br />surveillance cameras. Additionally, several residents were contacted who reported hearing gunshots. <br />Sergeant Wharton concluded his portion of the briefing. Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Sergeant L. <br />Barragan #2937 subsequently continued the briefing. <br />Sergeant Barragan informed us that he responded to at approximately 1845 hours. <br />Santa Ana Police Department Metropolitan Division Detectives T. Bell #3656 and J. McKee #3467 <br />discovered the suspect on the east sidewalk of this location suffering from approximately four apparent <br />gunshot wounds to the legs and left shoulder. The detectives rendered medical aid by applying tourniquets <br />to the suspect¶s extremities. <br />Personnel from Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) Engine 75 arrived on scene and assumed medical aid <br />of the suspect. The suspect was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center. At approximately <br />1922 hours, attending physician reported the suspect was in stable condition. <br />A bullet core was located within the suspect¶s clothing. Santa Ana Police Department CSI Forensic <br />Specialist S. Vazquez #3817 took photographs of the suspect at the hospital. <br />The suspect was subsequently identified as Marvin Ricardo Melgarejo (DOB 01/11/2003). Melgarejo was a <br />documented ³Bishop Street´gang member with the moniker of ³Saint.´Melgarejo had prior arrests for illegal <br />firearms possession. <br />A female subsequently identified as (DOB ) arrived on scene and identified <br />Melgarejo as her son. <br />Officer Santaella provided a public safety statement in which he indicated he fired his service weapon six <br />times in a northbound direction from Rosewood Avenue and Bishop Street. There was one outstanding <br />suspect who was the driver of the vehicle and was armed with a handgun. <br />The items at the scene where Melgarejo was located consisted of a cell phone and clothing cut from <br />Melgarejo¶s person by paramedic personnel. <br />A male identified as (DOB ) who resided at reporting hearing <br />five gunshots and then observing the suspect discard an item into the backyard of a neighboring residence. <br />Santa Ana Police Department Patrol Officer M. Marignoli #3858 recovered a black baseball hat with a white <br />³B´logo in the backyard of 1048 W. Myrtle Street. <br />Sergeant Barragan then concluded the briefing. <br />I subsequently returned to the Santa Ana Police Department with Sergeant Sarabia and Corporal Padron. <br />2243 hours: <br />I observed the processing of Officer Cofer in the Internal Affairs Division conference room at the Santa Ana <br />Police Department. The processing was conducted by Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department <br />Forensic Specialist S. Espinoza #11367. Present during the officer processing were Santa Ana Police <br />Department Internal Affairs Division Sergeant S. Gutierrez #3066, Orange County District Attorney ¶s Office <br />Investigator D. Melnyk, Attorney Corey Glave, and Corporal Padron. <br />2319 hours: <br />I observed the processing of Officer Santaella in the Internal Affairs Division conference room at the Santa <br />Ana Police Department.
