On Friday, 04/08/2023, at approximately 1845 hours, I responded to the area of Shelton and <br />Myrtle Street, the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange. The call was in regards to an officer <br />involved shooting that occurred. The suspect was located in the proximality of Shelton and <br />Myrtle Street. I responded in a marked Santa Ana Police vehicle and wearing a Santa Ana <br />Police uniform. I was riding in a 2 man patrol vehicle with Corporal N. Lopez. <br />This is a supplemental report of my actions and observations during this investigation. For <br />further details, please refer to the initial crime report. <br />When it was safe to do so during this incident, my department-issued Axon 3 Body-worn <br />camera (BWC) was activated and recording. This recording was later uploaded into the <br />SAPD evidence system. Any breaks within the recording are to defer with other officers <br />about the investigation. All statements made below summarize the facts and circumstances <br />that shall not be taken as all-encompassing of the event. For the exact dialogue and <br />sequence of events, please see the BWC footage. <br />Upon arrival, I observed the suspect laying on the east curbline of Shelton just South of <br />Myrtle Street. The suspect had multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities and was being <br />treated by officers on scene. <br />I was tasked to standby with Officer R. Santaella while I remained in the scene. <br />I transported Officer Santaella back to the Santa Ana Police Department and waited for <br />investigators from professional standards and a legal representative to respond. I was <br />relived by Sergeant T. Johnson at approximately at 2300 hours. <br />This concluded my actions. <br />Officer M.
