Santa Ana PD 2013-17495: Supp lemental Report by #2385 Page 3 of 4 <br />I was contacted by Sergeant Javier Esparza# 1568 of the Santa An a Police Department H omicide <br />Section who informed me that an officer involved shooting incident occurred at 805 S . Townsend St. <br />Sergeant Esparza r equ ested I res pond and ass ist w ith the in vestigation . <br />1045 Hours <br />T arrived at th e scene and ch ecked in w ith Officer R. Ribeiro #3224, who was maintaining the crime <br />scen e log. <br />1055 Hours <br />Serg eant P . Craft #2979 briefed us on the circumstances of the offi cer involved shooting . After the <br />briefing, I was assigned t o attend the processing of the offi cers involved in the incident at the San ta Ana <br />Police Department. <br />1110 Hours <br />I cleared the scene and returned to the Santa Ana Police D epartment. <br />1313 Hours <br />I att ended the office r processing which was conducted in an inte rview room, located in the Santa Ana <br />P olice Department Professional Standards Bureau. Present in the room we re Orange Coun ty Di strict <br />Attorney Investigator Brad Tanner, Santa A na Police Sgt. J. Gonzalez #25 93 , SAPOA Attorney D . <br />Go ldwasser, Officer G . Ayala #3294, OCSD Forensic Speciali st Laurabeth Camacho, Detective M. <br />McLeoad #277 0 and I. <br />OCSD r ore ns ic Spec ia li st L a urabeth Camacho photo grap he d Officer G. Ayala #3294. G. Ayala #3294 <br />was wearing a Santa Ana Police Department uni form , w h ich had Santa Ana Police patches o n bot h the <br />right and left s leeve. H is uni fo rm consisted of a Police Officer badge o n his left breast, his name tag on <br />his right breast , Sam bro wn duty belt, which contained his hol stere d service weapon , two s ingl e <br />handcuff case, key h o lder, baton r esting ins id e of baton ring, p o rtable radio , p epp e r spray , an d <br />ammunition pouch. H e had a pair of b lack gloves in hi s ri gh t rea r p ants flashli gh t pocket, a metal folding <br />pocket knife in his left rear pants fl ashli ght pocket and a backup weapon in h is left rear pants pocket. <br />Officer Ayala did not have a ny injuries, nor d id his uniform have a ny indication of wear or damage <br />caused by the inc ident. <br />Officer Aya la carries a d epartme nt issued Glock 22 40 cali ber semi-aut omatic handgun w ith serial <br />#LXN640. There was a Stream li gh t TLR gun li g ht, ser ial #C4-35256509 12, attached to th e gun. He <br />carri es 3 de partme n t issu e d g un m agazines and each m agazine holds 15 cartridges. On duty , the g un is <br />loaded with one cartridge in the ch amber and 15 cartridges in th e magazine. During the cartridge co unt , <br />the hand gun contained one cartridge in the chamber and seven (7) cartridges in the magazi n e. T he two <br />magazines on the duty belt each contained 15 cartridges. Each cartri dge h ad a head stamp of <br />"Wincheste r 4 0 S&W. <br />Officer Ayala's backup weapon was a Smith & Wesso n .380 Semi-auto, model : Body Gua rd 380, serial <br />#EBI0446 . The gun was loaded w i th o ne cartridge in the c hamber and 6 cartridges in th e magazine. <br />During th e cartridge count, the gun con ta ined one ca1iridge in the c hamber and s ix (6) cartridges in the <br />magazine. Each cartridge had a head stam p of "H ornady 380 Auto."
