Santa Ana PD 2013-17495: OIS by #2884 Page 14 of 17 <br />Victoria Antunes told us she was asleep her bedroom when she was awakened by the sound <br />of an unknown number of loud bang sounds. Victoria stated she was not sure if the sounds <br />were fireworks or gunshots. After being awakened, Victoria went to the kitchen and looked out <br />from its east facing window. Victoria stated she heard officers talking to someone . Victoria <br />stated she was not sure how many officers were present, possibly 5 to 6 . Victoria did not know <br />what the officers were saying and who they were talking to. She did not go outside to <br />investigate the gunshots. <br />Daniel Antunes told us he was asleep the living room when he was awakened by the sound <br />of about 8 gunshots. After being awakened, Daniel went to the kitchen and looked out from its <br />east facing window. Daniel explained that he saw part of marked police vehicle stopped in the <br />alley. From the window he heard someone yell, about three times, "Stay on the ground" and <br />"She has a gun." Daniel stated that he could not see who was yelling, but believed it was an <br />officer. He did not go outside to investigate the gunshots. <br />Luis Arias told us he was asleep the living room when he was awakened by the sound of an <br />unknown number of loud bang sounds. Luis stated he was not sure if the sounds were <br />fireworks or gunshots. After being awakened, Luis stated that he did not immediately go to the <br />kitchen window. When Luis went to the window, he observed an officer directing pedestrians <br />out of the area. He did not go outside to investigate the gunshots. <br />Jessica Temores told us she was asleep the living room when she was awakened by the <br />sound of about 3 gunshots. Jessica explained that after a brief pause (about 3 seconds) she <br />heard approximately 4 additional gunshots. After the shooting had stopped, Jessica got up and <br />went to the kitchen window. Jessica explained that from the window she could a marked police <br />vehicle stopped in the alley. Jessica stated that she heard two voices yell, "Get on the ground" <br />and "she has a gun." Jessica stated that she could not see who was yelling, but believed it was <br />the officers. She did not go outside to investigate the gunshots. <br />Telesforo Antunes explained that while he was cleaning his apartment when heard an <br />unknown number gunshots in the east alley. This occurred at about 0800 hours. Telesforo <br />went to the kitchen and looked out from its east facing window. Telesforo explained that from <br />the window he could see a marked police vehicle stopped in the alley. Telesforo stated that he <br />could not see the officers, but heard the officers speaking loudly to someone in <br />English. Telesforo does not speak English. He did not go outside to investigate the gunshots. <br />Apartment #6 <br />Apartment #6 is the furthest west, second floor, apartment at this address . This apartment is <br />the furthest apartment from the garage and east alley of Townsend Street. <br />Alejandro Apolonio explained that this morning, at about 0700 hours, he was standing just <br />outside his 2 nd floor apartment's door. Alejandro stated that as he stood outside, he saw a <br />police vehicle arrive in the alley. Alejandro explained that shortly after the police vehicle <br />arrived, he heard the sound of about 18 gunshots. Alejandro stated that he did not see the <br />shooting and did not hear anyone talking or arguing before or after the gunshots. Alejandro did <br />not go to the alley to investigate the gunshots. <br />I stepped out of the apartment with Alejandro and had him show me where he was standing at <br />time he observed what he had just described.
