Solorio was taken to a
hospital, where she later died of her injuries.
On Sunday, two Santa Ana police officers on patrol around 8 a.m. in an alley in the 800 block of South
Townsend Street confronted a woman, officials said. Police shot and fatally wounded her.
A replica handgun was found at the scene, Santa Ana police Cmdr. Eric Paulson said.
Police on Monday confirmed the woman was Gonzalez after the Orange County coroner's office notified
her family.
Court records showed both women had criminal records on offenses from theft to drug possession.
Gonzalez had earlier this month pleaded not guilty to 20 felony counts related to theft and burglary.
The Orange County District Attorney's Office is investigating Gonzalez's death, as is procedure for
shootings involving law-enforcement officers.
The Orange Police Department is also continuing its investigation of Solorio's death.
Contact the writer:ckoerner@ocregister.com or 714-704-3706
© Copyright 2013 Freedom Communications.
