Set Public Hearing For <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract for the purchase of ammunition for a total aggregate amount not to exceed <br />$110,000 with the following vendors: <br />Proforce Law Enforcements <br />Adamson Police Products <br />San Diego Police Equipment <br />Dooley Enterprises, Inc. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Santa Ana Police Department provides ammunition to its sworn officers, primarily for use <br />during training and range qualification testing. Officers are required to re-qualify regularly to <br />maintain proficiency in the use of firearms. The contract for ammunition is designed to provide <br />quality products at a significant savings based on quantity pricing. <br />The notice inviting bids was advertised on August 4, 2010, and bids were solicited. A summary of <br />the bid invitations and bids received is as follows: <br />6 Invitations For Bid mailed <br />4 Bids received <br />Bids were received and opened August 13, 2010 (Exhibit 1). Vendors were provided the <br />opportunity to bid on 31 types of ammunition. None of the respondents bid on all 31 items <br />contained in the invitation. The bids received from Proforce Law Enforcement, San Diego Police <br />Equipment, Adamson Police Products and Dooley Enterprises, Inc. is responsive to the <br />specifications and meets the Police Department's requirements. <br />22D-1
