<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ARTICLE VIII <br /> <br /> 8.0 HOLIDAYS <br /> <br /> <br /> 8.1 Legal holidays observed by full-time permanent and probationary employees of the City <br /> of Santa Ana are as follows: <br /> <br /> o January 1 - New Year's Day. <br /> <br /> o Third (3rd) Monday in January - In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. <br /> <br /> o Third (3rd) Monday in February - In observance of President's Day. <br /> <br /> o Last Monday in May - In commemoration of Memorial Day. <br /> <br /> o July 4th - In observance of Independence Day. <br /> <br /> o First (1st) Monday in September - In observance of Labor Day. <br /> <br /> o November 11th - In observance of Veteran's Day. <br /> <br /> o Fourth (4th) Thursday in November - In observance of Thanksgiving Day. <br /> <br /> o The Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day. <br /> <br /> o Last working day before Christmas Day, unless Christmas Day falls on Thursday, in <br /> which instance, the day following Christmas Day shall be observed in lieu thereof. <br /> <br /> o December 25th - In observance of Christmas Day. <br /> <br /> o One (1) Floating Holiday - Any workday selected by the employee with prior <br /> permission of the employee's supervisor. <br /> <br /> o Every day proclaimed by the Mayor of the City as a holiday for City employees. <br /> <br /> o Any holiday which falls on a Sunday will be observed on the following Monday. <br /> <br /> o Any holiday which falls on a Saturday will be observed on the Friday preceding the <br /> holiday. <br /> <br /> 8.2 Holidays - Shift Personnel and Employees on Alternate Work Schedules. <br /> <br /> A. Full-time employees whose regularly scheduled days off are other than Saturday <br /> and Sunday shall be entitled to receive twelve (12) working days off during the <br /> year in lieu of the holiday benefits specified in Section 8.1 above.
