RESOLUTION NO. 2006-025 <br />i <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF <br />THE CITY OF SANTA ANA APPROVING THE ART <br />PROGRAM FOR THE PROPERTY AT 2775 NORTH MAIN <br />STREET WHICH IS WITHIN SPECIFIC DEVELOPMENT <br />NO. 59 (SD-59) <br />KO x/30/06 <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The Planning Commission of the City of Santa Ana hereby finds, <br />determines and declares as follows: <br />A. The Applicant is requesting approval of the proposed art plan located at <br />2775 North Main Street which is within Specific Development No. 59 (SD- <br />59). <br />B. The art plan came before the Planning Commission of the City of Santa <br />Ana on August 14, 2006. <br />C. The art plan proposed provides an art piece within a fountain at the <br />northeast corner of Main Street and Memory Lane. The design submitted <br />provides a 30-foot high by 25-foot wide bronze freestanding sculpture that <br />consists of a juxtaposition of flat and curved planes of metal that interact <br />with the gravity flow of water. <br />D. Specific Development No. 59 requires Planning Commission review and <br />approval and that the art piece be completely installed prior to issuance of <br />any certificate of occupancy. Additionally, Specific Development No. 59 <br />identifies minimum requirements such as: <br />Public art valued at one half of one percent of the overall project <br />construction valuation. <br />2. Location of at least one art piece at the northeast corner of Main <br />Street and Memory Lane. <br />3. The public art should invite participation and interaction, inspire, <br />add local meaning, interpret the community by revealing its culture <br />or history, and/or capture or reinforce the unique character of the <br />new place. <br />4.
