4. Planning Commission Comments <br />Commissioner De La Torre <br />• Requested an update on the Santiago Lofts project. Planning Manager <br />Trevino provided information. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Stated that trash needs to be cleaned up at 5 Freeway off ramp on Main <br />Street. <br />• Stated that a pine tree was removed on Fourth Street median, stump left <br />near the median west of Tustin and Golden Circle (city tree). <br />• Stated that trash needs to be cleaned up at Mayberry and Park Court <br />between sound wall, by the chain link fence behind the Arnel property on <br />the west. <br />• Requested inspection of excessive window signage at home loan office at <br />northwest corner of Mayberry and 17th Street, small business center. <br />• Thanked staff for participation with City Place groundbreaking event. <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Commented on hostel project. Principal Planner Haluza provided current <br />project status. <br />• Inquired about status on pending issues with Original Mike's. Planning <br />Manager Trevino indicated item scheduled to return to Planning <br />Commission for approval. <br />• Announced that Subway is opened at the corner of Bristol & Memory <br />Streets. <br />• Requested an update of the Martini Baron Broadway in the Artists Village. <br />Staff indicated that the Alcoholic Beverage Control license review is <br />underway. <br />• Suggested that Commission view DVD showing 22 Freeway widening to <br />see improvements and impacts. <br />• Commented on story in Orange County Register regarding NASA exhibit <br />at the Discovery Science Center. <br />Commissioner Nalle <br />• Appreciated Steve Harding's positive remarks regarding downtown <br />revitalization in Santa Ana during interview on KPCC in Fullerton during <br />April <br />• Inquired about the Law Library clean up on pool. Commissioner Leo <br />provided information. <br />• Requested status update on YMCA building. Executive Director, Planning <br />& Building Agency, Harding provided information. <br />Commissioner Gartner <br />• Thanked staff for swell-prepared staff report on the Nexus project <br />Commissioner Lutz <br />• Appreciated comments on what other cities are doing with downtown <br />revitalization made on KPCC with Larry Mantle's talk show at Steamers <br />Restaurant in Fullerton. <br />• Inquired as to what is going on at H-Salt on Washington/Bristol, observed <br />drilling with 55-gal drums.
