CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO.2004-22 (Ann Ni) <br />Filed by La Cascada Restaurant to allow a Type 41 Alcoholic Beverage <br />Control license in conjunction with an existing restaurant at 2629 <br />Westminster Avenue. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Receive and file the staff report approving Conditional Use Permit No. <br />2004-22 as conditioned. <br />D. MINOR EXCEPTION NO.2004-07 (Ann Ni) <br />Filed by Ms. Ngoc-Anh Thi Huynh to allow a 42" height front yard fence, <br />with a 24" solid base at 5026 W. Fifth Street. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Receive and file the staff report denying Minor Exception No. 2004-07. <br />* * * END OF CONSENT CALENDAR * * * <br />BUSINESS CALENDAR <br />E. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION DISCLOSURE (REGARDING <br />AGENDIZED PROJECTS) <br />Chairman Mondo stated he had a telephone discussion with Michael <br />Harrah regarding the blade sign. Mr. Mondo noted that the art sign was <br />taken down; the blade sign was installed without required encroachment <br />agreement or sign permits regarding the slogan that the Planning <br />Commission had denied. <br />F. CONTINUANCE AND REFERRAL OF SIGN ISSUES FOR VARIANCE <br />NOS. 2004-07 AND 2004-10 (Vince Fregoso) <br />Variance No. 2004-07 - 100 South Main Street -Signs No. 3 and No. 6 <br />(E) <br />Variance No. 2004-10 - 801 North Main Street -Signs No. B (B1), C (C1), <br />D (D1, D2, D3, D5), and E (E1) <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Request Commission policy. <br />Vince Fregoso referred to the staff memorandum addressing the Historic <br />Commission comments dated October 11, 2004 and made a <br />recommendation. <br />Ben Kaufman, Chief Assistant City Attorney noted that the sign in the <br />above proposal is not flush with the building face and would need an <br />encroachment permit. <br />Chairman Mondo expressed concern that unauthorized signs have been <br />installed on the building at 100 S. Main Street and that regulations and <br />procedures have not been complied with.
