Planning Commission Comments <br />Commissioner De La Torre <br />• Expressed appreciation for the improvements being done to the SR55 freeway. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Noted the improvements to the SR55 would complement the MacArthur Place and <br />Hutton developments. <br />• Requested update on Olson Phase II. <br />• The South Bristol Specialty Retail District is intended to be an identification program <br />and not a land use plan. Suggested that the designation should not wait until <br />Centerline. <br />• Requested clarification on the Santa Ana City boundaries at the 405/55 interchange. <br />• Suggested future study session regarding liquor sales in the downtown area. <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Inquired about Farmers Insurance property that was sold. Staff indicated the <br />developer has not contacted them. <br />• Requested update regarding Red Mountain/Starbucks at Bristol & Memory. Staff <br />responded they are reviewing the site plan, site access and a potential parking <br />variance; noted that the project is moving forward. <br />• Commented on the public benefits of the Centerline project, especially in terms of <br />widening Bristol Street. <br />Commissioner Nalle <br />• No comment <br />Commissioner Sinclair <br />• No comment <br />Commissioner Lutz <br />• Requested status of the old P&E right-of-way on West 5th Street near Fairview. Noted <br />that it appears to be used for storage, which may not be permitted. <br />Chairman Mondo <br />• Inquired about the purpose of the signage in Costa Mesa at Bristol, Anton, & <br />Sunflower Streets where there are public notices posted.
