Cindy Nelson <br />• Welcomed Commissioner De La Torre <br />• Advised that Commissioner Richardson had been elected to the School Board <br />and that the City Attorney had determined that he could not also serve on the <br />Planning or Historic Resources Commission. She asked if the Commissioners <br />wanted to appoint a new representative to the Historic Resources Commission or <br />wait until vacancies filled. It was the consensus of the Commission to wait. <br />4. Comments from the Planning Commission <br />Commissioner De La Torre <br />• Noted that he was happy to be a member of the Planning Commission and <br />thanked everyone for the warm welcome. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Noted that he had observed graffiti on the new walls north of the river and <br />Memory Lane and requested staff to investigate. <br />• Thanked staff for their hard work and assistance to the Planning Commission <br />and noted that he personally is very satisfied with everything that has been <br />done. <br />Commissioner Mondo <br />• Observed that the benches had been removed from Sand Pointe Park and <br />asked staff to find out if they were going to be replaced as part of the new <br />equipment that was due soon. <br />• Noted that he had enjoyed working with Commissioners Doughty and Verino. <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Requested an update on Trader Joe's and was advised that completion was <br />expected within the next two months. <br />• Requested an update on the purchase of liquor licenses. Ms. Nelson advised <br />that the City Council had continued the item for 120 days and directed it to the <br />Public Safety Council. Information will be provided to the Planning Commission <br />as it is received. <br />• Requested an update on the status of Krispy Kreme and was advised that it <br />was in site plan review. <br />• Requested an update on the Artist Village lofts and was advised that models <br />will be open on March 15. Final occupancy should be in 2-3 months. <br />• Distributed an article from the newspaper regarding a potential theme park in <br />Garden Grove on Harbor Boulevard north of the 22 freeway and requested staff <br />to investigate. <br />• Requested clarification of policy to be used to clean up empty gas station sites. <br />Mr. Edwards advised that Planning Commission evaluation of commercial <br />areas will be undertaken soon. <br />Chairman Nalle <br />• Asked if there are former gas station sites in Santa Ana where the tanks have <br />not been removed and the soil remediated. Mr. Kaufman advised that staff was <br />not aware of any. <br />5. Excuse of Absences <br />Motion by Commissioner Mondo and seconded by Commissioner Cribb to excuse <br />the absence of Commissioner Verino and approved unanimously by a vote of 5:0. <br />6.
