RECOMMENDATION:
Receive and file the staff report approving Conditional Use Permit No. 2002-09.
The June 10, 2002 Agenda was posted at the City Hall Council Chambers on June 6,
2002 at 12:45 p.m.
* * * END OF CONSENT CALENDAR
WORK STUDY SESSION
D. ADDITIONS TO ACCESSORY STRUCTURES
Sergio Klotz, Senior Planner, provided the definition of what is considered an accessory
structure and outlined the current regulations. He noted that there have been permits
requested for additions to garages that concern staff due to their size and style. He
advised that staff was proposing to require a Conditional Use Permit for the construction
of anything larger than 100 square feet to allow for a more thorough review, and that
staff was requesting direction from the Commission. Discussion was held regarding
fees, methods for determination of appropriate structur4es by counter staff, and the
possibility of utilizing Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions as a deterrent to illegal
occupancy. The Commission expressed concerns with the cost of a Conditional Use
Permit for an accessory structure addition and directed staff to prepare a program for
review.
E. Recess To Council Chambers - 6:00

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES 2 July 8, 2002
