Public Comments <br />Tim Rush, Broadway Bulldogs, requested assistance from the Planning Commission in <br />requesting the developer demonstrate the size and height of the project by the use of <br />aerial balloons. <br />5. Comments from the Planning Commission <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Noted that there was an article in the Los Angeles Time concerning residential hotels <br />where relocation assistance was required for displaced residents. <br />• Noted disappointment in learning about the Chamber of Commerce Branding <br />campaign through the newspaper. <br />• Requested status on Memphis Restaurant. Ms Nelson advised it was scheduled to <br />open the end of March. <br />• Requested status on the Athena Grill. Ms. Nelson advised that it also was scheduled <br />to open the end of March. <br />Commissioner Richardson <br />• Requested that staff investigate the large banner on the roof of the Del Taco located <br />at Fairhaven and Grand and the signs being used by the multi-story apartment <br />building located at 2140 S. Main Street. <br />Commissioner Mondo <br />• Noted that the stealth cellular antennae at the First AME church on Bristol between <br />First and Second was a positive addition for the Church and the City. <br />Commissioner Verino <br />• Noted that she was please to see the addition of a left turn lane at Greenville. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Agreed with Commissioner Leo regarding Branding Campaign. He had hoped that <br />the Planning Commission would have had an opportunity to review. <br />• Noted that there was excessive litter at the freeway off-ramps. Over the weekend he <br />had removed eight buckets of liter at the intersection of the Edgewood and Main off- <br />ramp, the high occupancy vehicle off-ramp at the south 5 freeway, and the Main <br />Street off-ramp of the south 5 freeway to 20th Street. <br />• Observed graffiti at Mater Dei and S. Bristol on Saturday and asked who should he <br />contact on weekends. <br />• Noted that garage sale signs are not being removed promptly. <br />• Expressed concern regarding the number of fast-food restaurants being located at <br />17th Street and Tustin. He has noted an increase in litter in the area and suggested <br />that limitation of the number of fast-food restaurants may be the only way to reduce <br />litter. <br />Commissioner Mondo <br />• Advised that there is an after hours number for graffiti removal. Mike McCoy, Santa <br />Ana Police Department, provided the 24-hour hot line number. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Requested placement of "No Littering" signs in all languages throughout the city. <br />Also suggested that the City consider establishing fines for littering. <br />Commissioner Leo <br />• Suggested that the Planning Commission write their elected officials who oversee <br />CalTrans to initiate discussions. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES 7 MARCH 11, 2002 <br />
