REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: <br />DECEMBER 6, 2010 <br />TITLE: <br />APPROPRIATION ADJUSTMENT — <br />WORKFORCE INVESTMENT ACT RAPID <br />RESPONSE FUNDS <br />CITY MANAGER <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />CLERK OF COUNCIL USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />❑ As Recommended <br />❑ As Amended <br />❑ Ordinance on 1" Reading <br />❑ Ordinance on 2nd Reading <br />❑ Implementing Resolution <br />❑ Set Public Hearing For, <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Approve an appropriation adjustment recognizing additional revenues from the State of California <br />in the amount of $97,852 for Workforce Investment Act Rapid Response activities. <br />DISCUSSION <br />The State of California has announced the funding for the Rapid Response program for Fiscal <br />Year 2010 -11. The Rapid Response program provides funding to assist companies in Santa Ana <br />who are downsizing or closing their facilities. These funds will be used for staff and operational <br />costs for the program. The total amount awarded to Santa Ana is $300,222. A planning figure of <br />$202,370 was approved by the City Council in the City's 2010 -11 budget for Rapid Response. <br />This appropriation adjustment will increase the budget for Rapid Response to reflect the actual <br />amount received of $300,222. <br />FISCAL IMPACT <br />Upon approval of the appropriation adjustment, funds will be available in the Workforce <br />Investment Rapid Response account (no. 12318756- 62300/11700701213). <br />Cynthia J.
