Authorize the Public Works Agency to send a Request for Proposals to qualified companies to <br /> provide security guard services at the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center, the Santa <br /> Ana Zoo at Prentice Park, the Library, and the corporate yard. <br /> <br /> 2. Authorize the City Manager and the Clerk of the Council to execute the attached third <br /> amendment extending the agreement with Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. on a month- <br /> to-month basis not to exceed a term of six months, in an amount not to exceed $34,068 per <br /> month, subject to nonsubstantive changes approved by the City Manager and City Attorney. <br /> <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> The Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) is a regional hub, combining Amtrak, <br /> MetroLink, Orange County Transit Authority, and other bus and taxi services. The City provides <br /> security guard services for the travelling public and tenants. <br /> <br /> On November 20, 2006, City Council awarded Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. the contract <br /> to provide security guard services at various locations throughout the City, including The Santa <br /> Ana Regional Transportation Center, The Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park, and the Corporate <br /> Yard. The current extension will expire on November 30, 2010. <br /> Staff is recommending that the City send out a Request for Proposals to obtain competitive pricing <br /> and approve an amendment extending the security services with the current contractor through the <br /> RFP process. The Scope of Work for the RFP is attached. The amendment would provide <br /> service with Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. at a monthly cost of $34,067.83, for a period <br /> not to exceed six months.
