Councilmember Benavides: <br />• Recognized family and influence late father's values have played in his life and <br />public service; and <br />• Look forward to continuing progress of the City; <br />• Mentioned that an upcoming improvement will include video archiving of council <br />meetings starting in January 2011. <br />Councilmember Martinez: <br />• Thanked fellow Councilmembers for opportunity to serve along-side them and for <br />leadership; <br />• Thanked family, friends, city staff, and support group for encouragement; <br />• Grateful to neighborhood associations for election efforts; <br />• Expressed gratitude to the following influential people - Lily Martinez, Carolina <br />Gonzalez, Kathy Bain, Alex Flores, Jeff Bishop, Ron Garcia from the City of <br />Brea, SCAG's Executive Director Hasan Ikhrata, and the late Mark Press; and <br />• Dedicated her next term to her late mother Mary Ann Oliva Martinez. <br />Councilmember Sarmiento: <br />• Congratulated re-elected members; <br />• Thanked Councilmembers family's for allowing them to serve and willingness to <br />serve even during tough economic times, and voters for trust in current council; <br />and <br />• Goal of the City and the Council is to keep the City relevant, well protected, and a <br />safe place to raise a family. <br />Councilmember Bustamante: <br />• Congratulated colleagues and Mayor on re-election; and <br />• Look forward to move the City forward - great momentum in Downtown and <br />other improvements; Council will continue progress with professionalism and <br />civility. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Alvarez: <br />• Reflected on past 10 years of service on the Council; <br />• Thanked colleagues for trust and re-election as Mayor Pro Tem; <br />• Recognized mother for support; <br />• Thanked members of public in attendance especially Chris Leo and Lisa and <br />Brian Bist for service to the community; and <br />• Recognized Mayor Pulido's vision and leadership. <br />Mayor Pulido: <br />• Thanked everyone - family, residents, colleagues, and staff for support; and <br />• Noted some recent accomplishments and upcoming projects - street <br />improvements, expanding green jobs, economic development programs, focus <br />resources on health, expand tree planting program, transportation plan "Go <br />Local", Discovery Science Center, Pavilion which is now a Performing Arts <br />Center for the High School of the Arts, and proposed Orangewood project. <br />CITY COUNCIL MINUTES 4 DECEMBER 14, 2010 <br />1 0A-4
