Set Public Hearing For_ <br />CONTINUED TO <br />FILE NUMBER <br />Award a contract to iZone for educational and wayfinding signage for the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice <br />Park in the amount not to exceed $28,000. <br />DISCUSSION <br />On November 5, 2007, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency was awarded by the <br />Institute of Museum and Library Sciences Museums an America Program Grant in the amount of <br />$150,000 for the creation and implementation of a master graphics program at the Santa Ana Zoo at <br />Prentice Park. The signage includes animal and plant identification, interpretive totems, interactive <br />panels, wayfinding kiosks and monument signs. The signage will provide a consistent, attractive, and <br />educational bilingual signage program to help zoo visitors learn, provoke thinking and inspire the goal <br />of supporting lifelong learning. <br />iZone, as a sole source manufacturer of digitally printed high-pressure laminate signage, offers <br />durable and graffiti resistant graphics that have been utilized with success at the zoo in graphic <br />panels. The Santa Ana Zoo will install 117 signs and circular panels with cores of recycled material <br />100% post-consumer.
