Set Public Hearing For <br /> CONTINUED TO <br /> FILE NUMBER <br /> CITY MANAGER <br /> RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br /> Award a contract to iZone for educational and wayfinding signage for the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice <br /> Park in the amount not to exceed $28,000. <br /> <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> <br /> On November 5, 2007, the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency was awarded by the <br /> Institute of Museum and Library Sciences Museums an America Program Grant in the amount of <br /> $150,000 for the creation and implementation of a master graphics program at the Santa Ana Zoo at <br /> Prentice Park. The signage includes animal and plant identification, interpretive totems, interactive <br /> panels, wayfinding kiosks and monument signs. The signage will provide a consistent, attractive, and <br /> educational bilingual signage program to help zoo visitors learn, provoke thinking and inspire the goal <br /> of supporting lifelong learning. <br /> <br /> iZone, as a sole source manufacturer of digitally printed high-pressure laminate signage, offers <br /> durable and graffiti resistant graphics that have been utilized with success at the zoo in graphic <br /> panels. The Santa Ana Zoo will install 117 signs and circular panels with cores of recycled material <br /> 100% post-consumer.
