Actual Moving Expense (Commercial Move) <br />if you wish to engage the services of a licensed commercial mover and have the <br />Displacing Agency pay the bill, you may claim the ACTUAL cast of moving your <br />personal property up to 50 miles. Your relocation representative will inform you of the <br />number of competitive moving bids (if any) which may be required, and assist you in <br />developing a "mover" scope of services for Displacing Agency approval. <br />C. Other Moving Expenses <br />Under the Section I04(d) program, payment of a security deposit required to rent a <br />replacement dwelling and any credit check required to rent or purchase a replacement <br />unit are eligible expenses. Also, interim living costs; when required as a result of the <br />planned relocation program are eligible. <br />4. REPLACEMENT HOUSING PAYMENT <br />You may be eligible for a payment to assist in renting or purchasing a comparable replacement <br />dwelling. A household's "need" for rental assistance is computed by <br />subtracting the highest :of the following calculations from the rent and estimated average <br />monthlyutility costs for your new horrie {or a comparable replacement home, if that cost <br />is lower): <br />1:. 30 percent of the'household's monthly adjusted income, <br />2. lfl;percent of the household's monthly gross income, or <br />3. The welfare rent allowance {where designated). <br />That monthly need, if any, is multiplied by 60, to determine the total amount that you will <br />receive. This amount will be paid directly to you in monthly installments or other <br />periodic payments. <br />Example: Let`s say that your family`s adjusted monthly income is $600, and the monthly <br />rent and estimated average utility costs for the comparable replacement home to which <br />you move are $350. In this case, your monthly need would be $170 [$350 - $180 (30 <br />percent of $600)]. Multiplying this amount by 60 results in $10,200 of rental assistance. <br />• Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) (section 104(d)). You may be offered a HCV. if so, <br />you will also be referred to comparable replacement homes where the owner will accept <br />the voucher.
