AMENDMENT APPLICATION NO 98-10 VARIANCE NO 98-09 AND CONDITIONAL USF <br />PERMIT NO. 98-11 <br />Filed by SLS Associates, Inc. to allow a zone change from Commercial Residential (CR) to General <br />Commercial (Cl); allow a reduction in the required parking standards; and a Type 21 Alcohol <br />Beverage Control License in order to sell beer, wine, and distilled spirits at Lucky's/Savon store <br />located at 2840 South Bristol Street. <br /> <br />(Continued by the Planning Commission August 10, 1998 to August 24, 1998) <br />LEGALLY NOTICID: July 31, 1998 <br />PUBLICLY NOTICED: July 30, 1998 <br />Mr. Vince Fregoso, Associate Planner, presented the staff report and recommendation. <br />Mr. Mike McCoy, Police Department, informed the Commission that the Police Department had <br />concerns regarding the location of the proposed drive-through pharmacy and lighting. He stated the <br />Police Department's policy was to not support parking behind any buildings and the northeast corner <br />of Bristol would be a more appropriate azea for the drive-through. <br />Commissioner Mondo expressed his concerns with the conditions of approval imposed on the <br />previous Super Superior Warehouse project and the minimal conditions of approval being imposed <br />on this particular project, when the two requests were almost identical. <br />Mr. Chris Long, representing the applicant, indicated that he understood the Police Department's <br />concerns, however, there had not been any problems at other drive-through locations at Lucky/Savon <br />stores. In addition, he requested relief from the Planning Division's condition of approval number <br />two not permitting vending machines and bulletin boazds exterior to the structure and the Police <br />Department condition of approval number five, requiring public telephones to be located only in the <br />interior of the building. <br /> <br />Mr. Karem Ali, representing the applicant, explained to the Commission the operations, services, and <br />hours of operation of the proposed drive-through. <br />Mr. Long further offered to help mitigate staff concern's by allowing a security guard, closed circuit <br />cameras, and upgrade lighting in the pazking lot area. <br />Mr. Adams informed the Commission that due to Mr. Longs offer to address some of staff s <br />concerns it would be appropriate to allow staff and the applicant to meet before making a decision <br />and requested the project be continued to the next Planning Commission meeting. <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES <br />August 2d, 1998 <br />
