Motion: McDowell Seconded: Cribb <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />4. <br />5. <br />6. <br />7 <br />Motion: McDowell Seconded: Cribb <br />Approved 6:0 (Nape abstained) <br />Inclusion of a reader board. <br />Proposal: <br />The applicant proposes to include a reader board in each of the two wall signs. <br />Planning Commission Policy <br />Deny reader board component as part of any wall sign. <br />Motion: McDowell Seconded: Mondo <br />Denied 5:1 (Solorio no, Nalle abstained). <br />Content of reader board. <br />Proposal: <br />The reader board objectives stated by DSC are to foster community pride, increase interest <br />in science and math, promote programs at the Center, and to inform the public. Specific <br />objectives and examples of reader board text are listed on Page 3 of Exhibit 6. Operation <br />of the reader board is proposed between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. <br />Planning Commission Policy <br />Policy discussion regarding content was ^ulli5ed due to the Commission's decision to deny <br />the reader board. <br />Proposal was not discussed dire to the Planning Commission denying the reader board <br />request. <br />Content of tri-vision. <br />Proposal: <br />DSC proposed the tri-vision display to feature exhibits, performances, movies, etc. Initially, <br />one face of the screen will contain a graphic concerning the science exhibits. <br />Planning Commission Policy <br />Permit inekesion of tri-vision component and a limit of 10 words at a maximum area of IS <br />percent area of the sign component. <br />Motion: Mondo <br />Approved 6:0 (Nape abstained). <br />Taco Bell name size and location. <br />Proposal: <br />Seconded: Solorio <br />DSC states that Taco Bell is a major contributor to the Science Center and as such, the <br />facility has been named after the donor company. <br />Planning Commission Policy <br />Permit Taco Bell's name (or major corztributorJ to be included with the facility name with <br />letters not to exceed 7% " and to include only Discovery Science Center's logos in the <br />facility's signage (Exhibit 4J. <br />Motion: Doughty <br />To Approve number 2 of Exhibit 5. <br />Substitute Motion: <br />PIANNINC COMMISSION MINUTES <br />5 <br />Seconded: Cribb <br />TUNE 8, 1998 <br />
