Mel Vernon <br />Mel Vernon <br />Michael Strand <br />Michelle Morissey <br />Kim Sinclair <br />Suzanne Esper <br />After further discussions related to the cabinet sign, reader board texts, freestanding sign, and the <br />attendance demographics, the Commission commented on the following. <br />Madam Chair Verino indicated that she was in support of the project but expressed concerns <br />' regarding the previous discretionazy review for the center not including a signage package and a study <br />rat being conducted for the sign. <br />Commissioner Mondo expressed support for the museum, however he indicated that specific aspects <br />of the proposal were of concern, specifically the electronic reader boazd. In addition, he discussed <br />approving a variance to allow the temporary use of the inflatable balloon and possibly developing a <br />Specific Development zone for the project. <br />Commissioner MacDowell expressed his support for the museum and indicated his concerns regarding <br />the electronic reader boazds and the proposed signage being visible from the adjacent residential <br />neighborhood. <br />Commissioner Solorio indicated that he supported the request and he believed the applicant had <br />adequately discussed the proposal. <br />Commissioner Cribb indicated that he believed it was an outstanding project. <br />Motion to approve Variance No. 98-OI to allow the temporary inflatable balloon; continue the <br />remainder of the requests; and directed staff to develop a Specific Development wring district for <br />the project to establish requirements and standards. <br />MOTION: Mondo SECOND: MacDowell <br />AYES: Verino, MacDowell, Solorio, Mondo, and Cribb <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Doughty and Nalle <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS -COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC. <br />(For matters not previously listed on the Agendal <br />Ms. Leslie Mitchell discussed a proposal for a daycare facility located at Tustin and Santa Clara <br />Avenues. <br />4. EXCUSE OF ABSENCES. <br />Commissioner MacDowell moved to excuse the absence of Commissioners Doughty and Nalle. The <br />motion was seconded by Commissioner Mondo and unanimously passed. <br />5.
