APPEAL OF THE PLANNING MANAGER'S DECISION NO. 97-03 (Vince Fregoso) <br />Filed by Ms. Mary McClellan to overturn the Planning Manager's decision to deny the request to <br />allow a detached entertainment room located at 2117 North Victoria Drive in the Single-Family <br />Residence (Rl) zoning district. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Deny the Appeal of the Planning Manager's Decision No. 97-03. <br />Mr. Adams informed the Commission that the applicant was not present at the meeting and requested <br />a continuance. <br />MOTION: Continue Appeal of the Planning Manager's Decision No. 97-03 to August 11, 1997. <br />MOTION: Doughty <br />SECOND: Mondo <br />AYES: Nalle, Oliver, Mondo, Doughty, Verino, and Hanna <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTENTION: MacDowell <br />F. Comments from the Executive Director. (Robyn Uptegraft) <br />Ms. Uptegraff indicated that tenants would be soon occupying their buildings for the Center on <br />Seventeenth Street. However, there would be a formal ceremony once the mazket opened. <br />Grading from across Center on Seventeenth Street would be beginning soon. The home on the lot <br />would be relocated to French park for a proposed Parish home for St. Joseph. <br />G. Comments from the Planning Manager. (Kenneth Adams) <br />Mr. Adams informed the Commission that a conceptual proposal had been submitted for the Shimizu <br />site from Hopkin's Development. The project would be required to come before the Planning <br />' Commission and Ciry Council for formal action. <br />On or about August 1, 1997, MacArthur Place would be submitting along-term site plan proposal. <br />H. Comments from the Planning Commission. <br />Commissioner Hanna thanked staff for providing the brochure on Conflict of Interest. <br />Commissioner Mondo informed the Commission that he had recently been to the downtown Riverside <br />azea and had seen a vast improvement in the downtown area. He encouraged staff and other <br />Commissioners to visit the downtown area to see if any of the ideas successfully used in Riverside <br />would apply in Santa Ana. <br />I.
