Mr. John White, representing the South Santa Ana Merchants Association, expressed <br />support for staff's recommendation; however, he expressed concern regarding the <br />applicant's additional signage request. <br />The public hearing closed at 7:20 p.m. <br />Mr. Gary Sheatz, Assistant City Attorney, informed the Commission that due to the <br />remodeling and modifications to the building, the economic life and viable use of the <br />' building and site is extended considerably. Due to the enhancements of the site, it could <br />no longer be considered nonconforming, and the existing signage must come into <br />compliance with the current Code. <br />Motion to adopt a resolution Variance No. 00-07 as conditioned. <br />MOTION: Mondo SECONDED: Doughty <br />AYES: Mondo, Nalle, Solorio, Doughty, Cribb, and Richardson <br />NOES: Nalle <br />ABSENT: Verino <br />ABSTENTION: None <br />3. CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO.00-10 <br />Filed by AT & T Corporation to allow the construction of a single-story textured block <br />equipment building with cooling tower located at 471 West Warner Avenue in the Arterial <br />Commercial (C5) zoning district. <br />PUBLISHED IN THE REGISTER: June 15, 2000 <br />PUBLICLY NOTICED: June 14, 2000 <br />' RECOMMENDATION: <br />1. Approve and adopt the Mitigated Negative Declaration and Monitoring Program for <br />Environmental Review No. 99-172. <br />2. Adopt a resolution approving Conditional Use Permit No. 00-10 as conditioned. <br />Ms. Lynnette Perry, Associate Planner, presented the staff report and recommendation. <br />Chairman Mondo opened the public hearing at 7:30 p.m. and apprised the applicant that <br />a letter had been received requesting a continuance of the hearing. <br />Ms. Carrie Holman, representing AT & T, spoke in support of the project. <br />The following members expressed concern regarding the proposed project and <br />requested additional time to review project and proposal: <br />Charlotte Carlisle <br />John White <br />Chairman Mondo closed the public hearing at 7:52 p.m. <br />Staff informed the Commission that the Mitigated Negative Declaration was not included <br />in their packages and requested a continuance. <br />Motion to continue Conditional Use Permit No. 00-10 to July 10, 2000. <br />MOTION: Doughty SECONDED: Richardson <br />AYES: Mondo, Nalle, Solorio, Doughty, Cribb, and Richardson <br />NOES: Nalle <br />4 <br />
