ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT NO. 2001-11 <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to amend Chapter 41 of the Santa Ana Municipal <br />Code to establish standards for exterior pay phones. <br />PUBLISHED IN THE REGISTER: November 2, 2001 <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Recommend that the City Council adopt an ordinance approving Zoning Ordinance <br />Amendment No. 2001-11. <br /> <br />Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner, presented the staff report. <br />Chairman Mondo opened the public hearing. <br />Karen McDivitt, representing Pacific Coin, Henry Ciancio, representing Western Pay <br />Phone Network, Lois Stewart, Attorney, Martin Garrick, representing Admiral <br />Industries Inc., Ken Scott, representing Orion Pay Phones, Sal Haro, Santa Ana pay <br />phone manager, Armida Johnson, resident, Burt Wallrich, representing California <br />Alliance of Information and Referral Services, Fabio Silva, resident, spoke in <br />opposition of the ordinance. <br />Chairman Mondo closed the public hearing. <br />Discussion ensued regarding action taken in 1998 and direction received from City <br />Council, City standards currently in place, the number of phones in Santa Ana and <br />the number that could possibly be affected, and the potential financial impact of <br />removal or compliance. <br />Motion to continue to December 10, 2001 to allow the phone industry and staff <br />to meef and discuss compliance wifh the standards. <br /> <br />MOTION: Doughty <br />AYES: Cribb, Leo, Doughty, Mondo, Nalle, Richardson, Verino (7) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: None (0) <br />ABSTENTION: None (0) <br />SECOND: Cribb <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES 3 NOVEMBER 13, 2001 <br />
