AWARDS FOR OUTSTANDING HISTORIC PRESERVATION PROJECTS <br />Filed by the City of Santa Ana to recognize outstanding achievement in the area <br />of Merit: <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Recommend that the City Council announce the Outstanding Historic <br />Preservation Projects. <br />Vice Chairman Jeff Dickman and Associate Planner Hally Soboleske presented <br />certificates to the Award of Merit Recipients: Mary Garcia, Floral Park <br />Neighborhood Association, Paul Cook-Giles, and Wilshire Square Neighborhood <br />Association. <br />MOTION: Recommend that the City Council announce the Outstanding Historic <br />Preservation Projects. <br />MOTION: O'Callaghan <br />SECOND: Mill <br />VOTE: AYES: Bustamante, Dickman, O'Callaghan, Mill, Rogers, <br />Stroud (6) <br />NOES: None (0) <br />ABSENT: Chinn, Schaefer, Seeley (3) <br />ABSTAIN: None (0) <br />Awards of Merit: <br />Local History Book: Santa Ana's Logan Barrio -Its History, Stories, and <br />Families <br />' Mary Garcia, author <br />Description: Published in late 2007, this book describes the birth and growth of <br />Logan Barrio, one of Santa Ana's earliest Hispanic neighborhoods. <br />Floral Park Neighborhood Home Tour <br />Floral Park Neighborhood Association <br />Description: This year, the Floral Park Neighborhood Home Association will be <br />holding their 16~h Annual Home and Garden Tour. The tour brings thousands of <br />people to Santa Ana to view our city, as well as offer a wondertul and <br />entertaining afternoon that includes an antique auto show, collectibles sale, and <br />refreshments. <br />Paul Cook-Giles <br />Description: Paul Cook-Giles has long supported historic preservation in the City <br />of Santa Ana, and has given much of his time and energy towards this program <br />on all levels. Paul has served on the Historic Resources Commission, is a <br />member of the Santa Ana Historical Preservation Society, as well as the proud <br />owner of the Claycomb House - a home which he helped restore over the past <br />few years. <br />' Wilshire Square Garden Tea <br />Wilshire Square Neighborhood Association <br />Description: The garden tea promotes a historically sensitive area that exhibits <br />the lovely architecture and landscape in the neighborhood.
