Public Comments (items not on the agenda) <br />No comments were made. <br />STAFF AND COMMISSION COMI~AENTS <br />' 3. Staff Comments <br />Hally Soboleske provided photographs and information researched by Consultant <br />Debbie Howell on the Holly Sugar Corporation located in the Flower Park; <br />originally Santa Ana Cooperative Sugar Company. Five major processing plants <br />existed in Orange County at that time. Also another Holly Sugar factory existed <br />near Main Street. Templates will be amended to reflect the new information. <br />Sergio Klotz, Melanie McCann and Hally Soboleske attended Rancho Santa Fe <br />workshop on October 20 regarding the Secretary of Interior Standards with focus <br />on residential issues. <br />Jay Trevino recapped the status on the West Er1d Lofts project on 320 West <br />Fourth Street. He reviewed the schedule of the. item with City Council and <br />indicated that the disposition and development agreement (DDA) copies will be <br />distributed to the Historic Resources Commissianers (HRC). He noted the <br />concerns of Commissioners O'Callaghan and Chinn that the HRC should <br />express its consensus opinion to oppose or support the project. Mr. Trevino <br />indicated since there is no action required by HRC; they could not deny or <br />approve the project. He suggested the HRC consider formalizing its position with <br />regards to this project. <br />Chair Cook-Giles inquired if the HRC could structure a collective consensus <br />before City Council discussion. Kylee Otto recommended item would be <br />agendized in December for discussion prior to going to City Council. <br />Chair Cook-Giles recommended placement of the item on the December 7 <br />agenda regarding a discussion on the West End Lofts project on 320 West <br />Fourth Street prior to City Council. <br />4. Historic Resources Commission Comments <br />Commissioner Bustamante <br />• Requested update of replacement door at Twist-Basler house. Hally <br />Soboleske provided information. <br />Commissioner Corpin <br />• Commented on new media center for commercial advertising. <br />Commissioner Schaeffer <br />• Commented on adjacent property to Twist-Basler house that was <br />demolished. Mr. Trevino provided information for the adjacent properties. <br />• Bowers Museum expansion, fagade facing Main Street does not resemble <br />that which Historic Resources Commission approved; completely <br />contemporary in style. Planning staff will advice. Commissioner Lutr <br />indicated that changes were approved by City Council. <br />• Noted citywide increase of graffiti. <br />Commissioner O'Callaghan <br />• Inquired about purchase price of land for West Ends project.
