G. AD HOC COMMITTEE FOR THE 2006 HISTORIC 'RESERVATION AWARDS <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Appoint an Ad Hoc Committee for the 2006 Historic Preservation Awards. <br />Alfonso Bustamante, Michael Seeley, Thomas Lutz and Michael Macres were <br />appointed to the Ad Hoc Committee. <br />H. DISCUSSION OF ANNUAL OBJECTIVES FOR YEAR 2005-2006 <br />Hally Soboleske reviewed the objectives for year 2005-2006. <br />Ms. Soboleske reviewed the 2004-2005 Annual Objectives: <br />1. Historic Preservation Plan was underway, but was placed on Hold with <br />changes pending with staff, anticipate approval in 2006. <br />2. All properties in Downtown that had owners willing to participate had <br />markers installed. <br />3. Citywide design guidelines will go to the City Council for study session in <br />February. <br />4. Established and implemented a Historic Survey Methodology for the City, <br />and placed twenty properties on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties in 2005. <br />Ms. Soboleske discussed the annual Objectives for 2006. <br />1. Adopt a Historic Preservation Plan. <br />2. Begin second phase of historic marker program to make markers available <br />to all Landmark structures on the Santa Ana Register of Historical <br />Properties. <br />3. Complete historic surveys for Section I and start Section II as defined in <br />the Historic Survey Methodology Map. <br />a. Additional listings for the Santa Ana Register of Historical Properties. <br />Commission discussion ensued to consider additional objectives: <br />4. Outreach to Realtors, define benefits, restrictions, continuing education <br />credits, Mills Act protection. <br />Additionally, the Commission would like to have two items agendized for work <br />study sessions as deemed appropriate: (1) current state & local regulations <br />regarding care homes and group homes and (2) steps to better educate and help <br />the public begin the process for creating Historic Districts. <br />The Commission also requested a future joint meeting with the Planning <br />Commission to assess the successful implementation of the Citywide Design <br />Guidelines. <br />WORK STUDY SESSION <br />' Chairman Cook-Giles rescheduled item to February 2, 2006. <br />1.
