RECOMMENDATION: <br />Adopt a resolution approving Historic Exterior Modification Application No. 2005- <br />02. <br />Senior Planner Sergio Klotz presented the staff report and recommendation. <br />Commission discussion ensued regarding structure finishes, landscape, and <br />entrance to the museum, the north wall area facing the proposed parking area, <br />' and the tree selection for the walkways. Commission also inquired about drop- <br />off area and satellite parking areas. Commissioners commented that the <br />rendering presented to the Commission was not detailed enough for discussion. <br />Architect Robert Coffey provided information on the building design, texture, <br />materials, colors and features for the overall site including the arched entry to the <br />theater, landscape plans and proposed parking. Mr. Klotz confirmed the <br />developer held neighborhood meetings to introduce the proposal. <br />The public hearing was opened. <br />Chair Giles noted that no written communications were received. <br />The public hearing was closed. <br />At the conclusion of the hearing, the Commission continued the project and <br />requested clarification to items such as exterior material finishes, articulation <br />details, shape of arched opening along Main Street, stone material on arched <br />opening, the base of wall, canopy into secondary entry, signage and elevation <br />perspectives from the proposed north parking lot. <br />MOTION: <br />Continue the public hearing to Historic Resources Commission on July 7, 2005 <br />' Assistant City Attorney Otto clarified that the Certificate of Appropriateness, under <br />review by the Historic Commission, was to determine if the exterior modifications <br />changed the character and integrity of the historic property. Principal Planner Haluza <br />directed the Commission to focus their understanding of the integrity of the original <br />structure and how the design of the addition relates to it. In keeping within the scope of <br />the Historic Commission review, the discussion was to be confined to materials, <br />finishes, articulation on the auditorium fagade, height and scale of the archway, concept <br />of the banners being asymmetrical, the lack of details on the north elevation, and <br />additional information on the stone finishes. The Commission asked for clarification on <br />canopy at the secondary entrance and the proposed signage above the archway entry. <br />Commission inquired about the project timeline with regard to the continuance, planning <br />staff provided scheduled dates. <br />MOTION: O'Callaghan <br />VOTE: AYES: <br />NOES: <br />ABSENT: <br />ABSTAIN: <br />' 3.
