REC~UEST FOR H®USI~VG <br />AUTH®R1TY ACTT®tV <br />MEETING DATE: <br />NOVEMBER 5, 2007 <br />TITLE: <br />AMENDMENT TO THE MEMORANDUM OF <br />UNDERSTANDING WITH THE COUNTY OF <br />ORANGE SOCIAL SERVICES AGENCY <br />~~ <br />ECUTNE IRECTOR <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />~;~~~ s <br />~~~ - <br />~,~, <br />RECORDING SECRETARY USE ONLY: <br />APPROVED <br />^ As Recommended <br />^ As Amended <br />CONTINUED TO <br />Direct the Authority General Counsel to prepare and authorize the <br />Executive Director and the Secretary of the Authority to execute an <br />amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Orange <br />Social Services Agency. <br />COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION <br />At its Regular Meeting of October 16, 2007, by a vote of 4:0 (Pedroza, <br />Turner absent), the Community Redevelopment and Housing Commission <br />recommended that the Housing Authority direct the Authority General <br />Counsel to prepare and authorize the Executive Director and the Secretary <br />of the Authority to execute an amendment to the Memorandum of <br />Understanding with the Gounty of Orange Social Services Agency. <br />DISCUSSION <br />In 1992 the Housing Authority of the City of Santa Ana (SAHA) applied and <br />received from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) an <br />allocation of certificates dedicated for the Family Unification Program. <br />The l;amily Unification Program is a specific program within the Housing <br />Choice Voucher Program. In order for families to be eligible for this <br />program, they must meet the SAHA eligibility criteria and the local <br />welfare agency must refer and certify that the lack of adequate housing <br />is a primary reason that the family's child/children may be placed in <br />out-of-home care or prevented from returning to the family from out-of- <br />home care.
