STAFF AND COMMISSION COMMENTS <br />6. Comments from Staff <br />Ms. DeRosa <br />• Noted that the Environmental Impact Report for the Sav-On project located at 102, <br />116-120 N. Main Street and 115 N. Sycamore Street will be on the October 28, 2002 <br />Planning Commission agenda. <br />• Advised that Santa Ana had been awarded grant funding for a regional workshop for <br />historical preservation training. The training is scheduled for February 18, 2003. <br />She also thanked Lynnette Perry and Holly Cappiello for their work in submitting the <br />grant application. <br />• Noted that Community Development Agency staff will provide an update on <br />Downtown projects at the November 7, 2002 meeting. <br />• Announced that the Design and Development Standards should be available in draft <br />next month. <br />7. Comments from Historic Resources Commission <br />Commissioner Schaeffer <br />• Noted that the VA Housing building at Santa Clara and Main Street was being <br />demolished and asked what would be built on the site. Staff will investigate. <br />Commissioner Richardson <br />• Noted that the home located at 1617and 1617 YZ E. Fourth Street had suffered fire <br />damage and requested staff to contact the owner and advise of available <br />rehabilitation assistance. He noted that the home was a Frederick Eley home and <br />hoped that after it had been rehabilitated it could be placed on the Historic Register. <br />Commissioner Giles <br />• Requested an update on the status of boarding up the windows at the YMCA. Ms. <br />DeRosa advised that it had been done. Community Development Agency staff will <br />be requested to include an update on the building in their project update next month. <br />• Requested an update on the One Broadway Plaza Project and was advised that it <br />had not been submitted into site plan review. <br />• Noted that there is a collection of vintage clothing on display in Orange and that the <br />owner had expressed a desire for a museum for display in Santa Ana. He requested <br />that staff research for potential sites. <br />• Noted that the Episcopal Church at Civic Center and Bush will host a concert on <br />Sunday, October 6, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. <br />Commissioner Bustamante <br />• Congratulated staff on the grant that Santa Ana had received. <br />Madam Chair Kinos <br />• Requested that congratulations be passed on to staff for the grant. <br />• Requested a study session to discuss the Design and Development Standards as <br />soon as they are available. <br />• Noted that the number of structures being placed and categorized on the Register <br />had decreased and advised that the focus would shift to identify landmark and key <br />structures in all neighborhoods for placement on the Register. <br />• Requested that significant political events such as the Presidential meetings at the <br />Bowers and Masonic Temple be added to the templates. <br />8. Ezcuse of Absences <br />Motion by Commissioner Richardson and seconded by Commissioner Bustamante to <br />excuse the absence of Commissioners Gartner and Chinn and approved unanimously <br />by a vote of 7:0. <br />9.
