Ms. Cindy Nelson was absent. <br />5. Comments from the Planning Manager and staff. <br />Mr. Joseph Edwards, Principal Planner, expressed his appreciation to the Commissioners <br />who participated in the National Trust Conference; reminded the Commissioners of the <br />December 15 event, and introduced Ms. Leslie Neumann as the selected consultant to <br />assist staff with the completion of the Commission objectives. <br />Mr. Charles View informed the Commission that an agreement had been reached with <br />Burgman and they would be coordinating all applications for the rehabilitation of the Santora <br />building and for the construction of the Memphis restaurant; and that occupancy had been <br />approved for the Masonic Temple, however, the exterior modifications were subject to <br />Commission review and approval. <br />Commissioner Chinn commented that the Masonic Temple awnings were in the right-away <br />and asked if they had to receive approval from Public Works. Mr. View indicated that they <br />would require an encroachment permit from the Public Works Agency. <br />6. Comments from the Citv Attorney. <br />There were no comments. <br />7. Comments from the Historic Resources Commission. <br />Commissioner Berrv <br />• Inquired regarding placing the Halladay house on the Register. Mr. Adams indicated <br />that he would contact the owner and see if she would reconsider placing the structure <br />on the Register. <br />Commissioner Cribb <br />• Commented that he had received a copy of the letter from the Judge of the Orange <br />County Courthouse and the request for a water element had been rejected due to <br />funding restraints. <br />Commissioner Corwin <br />• Stated that she would like to be an alternate for the Template Committee. <br />• Inquired as to the status of the antique car collection. <br />Commissioner Giles <br />• Commented that the National Conference was useful and encouraged everyone to <br />attend the Conference in 2001 that would be held in Rhode Island, New York. <br />• Inquired as to having the public hearings placed first on the agenda. Mr. Adams <br />indicated that the public hearings were placed on the agenda later in the meeting to <br />allow public participation; that the start time of the meetings was earlier than most <br />people could arrive. <br />Commissioner Kinas <br />• Expressed her appreciation to staff for the Conference preparations and commented <br />that she believed the Commission had been making appropriate actions; indicated <br />that she had received information pertaining to a conservation district and that she <br />would like to pursue the possibility of implementing Conservation Districts in Santa <br />' Ana. <br />• Inquired as to the status of the aluminum window memo to the Planning Commission. <br />• Commented that she was interested in the Historic Commission meeting twice a <br />month. <br />• Commented that she was interested in the Neutra building being agendized for the <br />next meeting. <br />• Commented that she was interested in having a specific meeting to discuss the <br />objectives for 2001 in January. <br />8.
